Standard Mental Health First Aid
Standard Mental Health First Aid Course is delivered via 3 modes of delivery. Students or workplaces can choose the delivery mode that suits them.
Option One: This is a 2 day face to face training of 6 hours per day. No online is required.
Option Two: Blended Delivery mode. 6-7 hours online and 5 hours face to face training.
Option Three: Blended Zoom Delivery mode: 6-7 hours online and 5 hour Zoom session from your house.
With this course, you will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crises resolves. Evidence has consistently shown that MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illness, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in the help provided.
Mental Health Problems covered are: Depression, Psychosis, Anxiety problems and Substance use problems.Mental Health Crisis covered are: Suicidal thoughts and behaviours, Non-suicidal self-injury, Severe psychotic states, Aggressive behaviours, Panic attacks, Traumatic events, Severe effects from alcohol/drug use.

- Albury, Wodonga, Wagga, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Orange, Bathurst and Australia wide
- Course Cost: $390 per participant

- Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites for this course. Any adult can attend.
- Minimum Age: 18 years and above.
- Course Duration: Option 1: Two days Face to Face (12 hours) Option 2: Online plus Five hours Face to Face (5 hours) Option 3: Online plus Five hours Zoom session (5 hours)
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirements:
Learners will require suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills such as read information from a PowerPoint, listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English-speaking instructor.
Certification Issued: Certificate is issued by Mental Health First Aid Australia. On successful completion of the post training assessment, a certification is issued as an accredited Mental Health First Aider.
This course does not form part of a Vocational Education Qualification. Accreditation is provided by Mental Health First Aid Australia https://www.mhfa.com.au/
Certificate Validity: Three years from the date of issue. Refresher training is required after 3 years. In the sixth year, the full course must be completed again.
